Painting Update

I will be posting more 5"x5" paintings in the fall.
Right now I am busy in my studio painting larger pieces.
After painting so many small works,
I forgot how time consuming it is to paint large scale.
The prep work took a while but it was worth it.
I now have lots of large white textured supports.
The largest is 48" x 48". The smallest are 12" x 12".

I have layed out marbles, cherries, scarabs, pb&j, flowers,
and more. Here is a M&M, the first of many larger works.

Dubble Bubble Wow!

Here is a piece of Dubble Bubble Gum on the edge of WOW. It took my eyes three hours to recover from painting the typeface on this one. I liked this composition so much I felt it deserved more time spent on the type. The rest of the wrapper has lots of brush work. Enjoy!

Who's more shocked looking, the pears or Olive?
I was just told "Pears are an over used subject matter,
but still loved". They have the curves. They have the
color. They have the taste. So yes, I love them too.

My Mother is having Chemo and well, I hate cancer!!!
I have been getting ready for my trip to N.C. I will be
her personal slave for a week. She has a list and I
know for a fact that planting her garden will be part of
my duties.

Iron Man, Locked Up

The key to any hero's success is locking up the bad
guys. Do they lock them up and throw away the key?
If they do, it had better be a strong lock. The bad guys
always have a way of escaping and causing more
trouble for the hero.
All the cool shaped items I seem to own, are
monochromatic. I have four old keys relatives have
given to me and here are the three smaller ones.
The fourth is a old gate key which is triple the size
of the smaller ones. Enjoy being locked up!

This Painting represents the Second line in the poem.
Looks like Steve, AKA Captain America, has found a
snuggle buddy. It's always nice to belong. I wonder
how long this can last. That last battle must have
been rough. Looks like super powers don't make you
immune to pesky critters. Our hero, needs to hit the
showers.

This is the last line and the longest line in the poem.
Painting went pretty fast today, you could say things
just flew together. You look close enough at
something, you can find its beauty. OK, its hairy bug
beauty. Poor Captain America, the things he has
to put up with. Maybe it's the star on his chest.

Here is another egghead Mad Scientist ready to wreak
havoc on the planet. He is not so ready any more. The sun
will rise again because this mad scientist wasn't what he
was cracked up to be. Captain America, knew eggactly
how to take care of him. The moral to the this story, don't
do bad deeds or you will end up with egg on your face.

Crash and Burn

In this painting, Captain America, is strapping on his
shield, getting ready for another round. All in a days
work. He makes being a Superhero look so easy. At
least he is not being blown up, of course he even
makes that look easy.
The Crash and burn was me last week. The burn was
a temp. of 102.4 and the crash was the flu. Thank
goodness that is over. Enjoy and don't get caught
in the smoke.

Here is my second painting, in The Incredible Hulk Series. Who needs a bull in a china shop, when you have The Hulk. This would have to be a china shops worst nightmare. This lovely, raku shaker ball, was knocked off my shelf a few months ago. I finally found a reason for keeping the pieces. I sketched in a similar composition on a 14"x14" but instead of using the clay marbles, I used glass ones. I love this foot. It has so much character. Enjoy!

Here is the second painting in my Lucy series.
I painted this one at the easel. After I dropped Dr. Banner's Marble the other day, I have been leery of painting at the easel. I'm over it! I like the brush work I get from the easel verses the drafting table.
I've had these scarabs in a dresser upstairs and forgotten about them, until today. I have 10 of these little guys. I can see an attack coming soon.
